Plus Size Women's Business Suits

Plus size women's business suits will present a strong, professional image for the career woman in the boardroom or the meeting room.

For full figured women in the corporate world, finding a suit is a necessity. The suit should be well-tailored and should fit perfectly. There are many options for the businesswoman of size who needs a functional and fashionable addition to her work wardrobe.

Business Suit Basics

A business suit will consist of a jacket or blazer and a skirt or slacks. Traditional colors like navy blue, black or gray are good for presenting a serious image, but don't feel you have to be confined to those hues if you like something a little brighter. Still, you'll have to keep in mind your particular business environment, as some corporations and industries are more conventional than others. Banking is a traditionally conservative business, while careers in any of the artistic factions are generally more open to individuality.

Blazers

Pairing a blazer with a pair of slacks or a skirt creates a look that is polished and professional. These versatile jackets come in an array of styles, including classic designs, swing silhouettes and cropped cuts.

Slacks

Pants can be very comfortable to wear because women aren't as concerned with how they sit or climb in and out of cars as they are while in skirts. While styles will come in and out of fashion, a classic pair of slacks can last for years. Whether you prefer a streamlined leg or something a bit wider, your slacks should fit well, but not tightly.

Skirts

For professional women, skirts should fall no shorter than knee-length. A-line shapes are flattering to many women. Plus size women should avoid skirts with pleats or a lot of ruching; the simpler the style, the neater the overall look.

Styles of Business Suits

Whether you prefer skirts or slacks, there are suits in both styles that are flattering and present an image that's all business.
  • This mauve colored trouser suit is professional, but also feminine in its non-traditional color. The men in the boardroom won't mistake you for one of the guys in this pretty power suit.
  • Every businesswoman needs a basic black suit and this one fits the bill nicely with its sharp tailored lines and clean minimalism. The skirt hits the right length and its partially elasticized waistband ensures a good fit.
  • From Kasper Plus, this beautiful black pantsuit looks stunning in its simple sophistication. It is available from Macy’s in sizes to 24W.
  • Look and feel fabulous at work in this three-button shawl collar skirt suit by Geraldine Fay.
  • Beautiful ivory contrasting trim makes a gorgeous accent on this single button brown skirt suit.
