The Full Figured Fashion Week take place to New York, from June 16th to the 19th: an event that unites the whole curvy world. This is the third year that former plus-size model Gwen DeVoe has produced the show, which featured 15 designers from Canada, the United States and Europe. In interviews with various media outlets, she's said she was inspired to launch the event because prestigious New York Fashion Week designers weren't creating clothing for women like her.
Gwen DeVoe, CEO of DSE and Executive Producer of FFFWeek says, "It is time for designers, retailers, boutique owners and businesses with an interest in the plus-size market to combine their resources and their talents to create a memorable event that will rival all other Fashion Weeks.”
It’s no surprise that plus-size models and fashion are largely absent in runway shows, magazine advertisements, and clothing stores. FFFWeek is a great opportunity to begin bridging this gap and give full figured women access to beautiful and fashionable clothing like anyone else.
During the closing evening there been a show of the collections of thirteen among designers, stores and sellers: Sweetooth Couture, Evie Foster, Jill Designs Alexander, Curvysta, Curvaceous Boutique, Peluche Boutique, Vicki Vi, Margaux Couture, La'Dan's Closet, The Queen Grace Collection and Ashaki Charles Designs.
Among the winners: for best photographer of the curvy world Lucas Pictures, best brand Lane Bryant, and fashion stylist Susan Moses.
