Originally Lebanese, Rani Zakhem was raised in Nairobi, Kenya, where his family moved to escape a warn-torn home country.

His attraction to the vibrant colors and alluring beauty he found around him in Nairobi, as well as his fascination for aesthetics, shaped the kind of designer Zakhem would become. After graduating with a degree in economics and one in interior design, Zakhem decided to pursue what he loved most: fashion.

A graduate of Parsons, the New School for Design, in New York, where he was mentored under some of the most prestigious names in the industry, Zakhem later decided to venture out with his eponymous label in 2009.
